Meet Me At Sunset is an independent British record label founded in Brighton, UK in 2012. They produce independent artists across a variety of genres, however specialise in electronica, dance and house music.
The founder, Scott Byrant proposed a brief which required a identity which could be instantly recognisable and consistent across a variety of mediums. With this in mind, a single distinguishable mark was designed which would fulfil this requirement.
First and foremost, the mark represents the name of the company, with the abstract setting of the sun. Secondly, and perhaps most importantly, the mark represents a speaker, relevant to the company and the music they produce.Art Direction, Branding, Graphic Design2014
Northwest is a parent company, it has three subsidiaries: Northwest Music, Northwest Theatre and Northwest Film. They are all focused on the four major stages of the creative process: Development, Pre-Production, Production and Post-Production.
Branding Northwest was a complex project, spanning over several weeks. Numerous
ideas were presented until Northwest felt the identity captured everything the company represented.
The initial concept of the brandmark, was in a way to represent the company’s name directly, while also working to present the companies values, ideology and ethos. Inspiration came in the form of the cardinal points (North, South, East and West) aswell as the four major stages of the creative process.
The brandmark was designed with these two things in mind and therefore each Northwest point represents one of the four stages of the creative process. The pattern in each point represents the dense, detailed thought-process gone into each part of the process. The overlapping of colours between each subsidiary was used to show how all three work in unison with each other.
The outcome is an identity which captures everything Northwest represents.
